Virtual Piedmont
project
The Virtual Piedmont presentation has been made upon request from the Piedmont Regional
government, in partnership with the Turin politechnic.
It is a multimedia product, presented during the opening congress of the project, held
in the central hall of Turin politechnic.
A DVD has been made and distributed to participants and the media, containing a video
and all the software. The product has been presented in many events and in various fairs
by the Piedmont Region.
The so-called "symbolic access" showed a prototype of the interface to
Virtual Piedmont contents, putting togheter various data sources of many companies and
institutions working into the project.
Now specification for the huge project are under development.
Ultramundum Foundation projects have been used for many sequences and for the virtual
esploration of Turin.
A detailed virtual model of the ISS (International Space Station) has been created for
the spectacular start sequence where, arriving from outer space, the camera crosses the
ISS and shows the modules made in Italy (by Alenia aerospace).
Like some of the best hollywood sequences, the descent from space to ground in Castello
square in Turin does not stop, delivering a complex continuous shooting seen in few
high-level movies.
There are also examples of e-commerce with digital broadcasting TV, made with UltraPort
and our virtual models of the historical center of Turin.
